An amazing day at Salesforce Park and a terrific showing by the Guild, we thought we were going to be pouring our six (6) outstanding beers but were tasked with also pouring the Brewers Guild six (6) IPA'S , the journey of the IPA from 2000 to the future, 2030. Our tent was packed all day long, given the expanse of beers and knowledge of our brew tenders. Our hard work paid off and compliments abounded. If you were unable to have made it, here is a tasting guide and information about our club Better said by Wawona Brewing: Beautiful day at Salesforce Park. The SF Homebrewers Guild is sharing a tent with the SF Brewers Guild today at the SFBeerweek opening gala. The SF Brewers Guild will have collaborations of IPA through the years, including the SF Homebrewers Guild “Give Me Liberty, Hamdi!” — a clone of Anchor Brewing Liberty Ale and an request to the new owner to bring it back! Come drink beer with us!

“What a fun day - thanks to everyone who came out and especially to everyone who participated in the club comp yesterday at the annual picnic. Overall, there were 11 entries and not a bad beer in the bunch. The focus was using one of the advanced hop products that have come on the market -- cryo, CO2 extract, distilled, etc. We had a wide range of styles entered - pale ales, IPAs, hazy's, cold IPA, WC Pils, NZ PIls, double IPA and a saison. Quality across the board. This was a peoples choice event and the people decided that Seth Luisi, John Warner, and Dennis Yarak had the three best beers of the day. Seth's Hazy IPA took top honors, John's NZ Pils took second and Dennis' Pale Ale was third. Congrats!” Since our exalted Presidente Colin was on a post Gala roadtrip, Brad took over the meeting and announced the new Competitions for this year. We are trying for some more outreach for others can enjoy the camaraderie and information that our group has to offer The events are posted on our Google Calendar and you can subscribe to it for easy access. Also put the Oysterpalooza on your Calendar as we join forces with the San Andreas Malts and continue the tradition Fun time had at the Gala, great showing after a 4 year hiatus. Over 120 local Breweries were represented. SFGH helped set up and we had an information table at the event, allowing us to show some of our stuff. Unfortunately we couldn't pour our Homebrew, but there was plenty there for everyone. |
